Dennis M. Griffin, MD, age 77 years, of Concord, formerly of Wellesley, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. He is the husband of Tonie Moran, Ph.D. with whom he shared 11 happy years. He leaves his daughters Kathryn McArdle, Elizabeth Griffin and her husband Neil, Cristin Griffin and her husband Brian, and Anne Griffin. He is predeceased by his beloved son, Edward. He leaves 11 grandchildren who brought him endless joy and laughter. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, John J Griffin, Jr. and his wife Mary Margaret, Kate Griffin and her husband Jim Drury, Maryann Wulff and her husband Rodney, and Alice LaMarque. He is predeceased by his sister, Cele Griffin, and his brother, Robert Griffin.
Dennis was a proud “double eagle”, graduating from both Boston College High School and Boston College. He went on to attend Tufts University for his medical degree, and continued his training, becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon. Dennis eventually found his way back to his beloved Boston College where he was team doctor for the BC football team for 17 years, a position that brought him great joy. He also spent many wonderful summers with family and friends in West Harwich and then Chatham, enjoying all of the boating, golfing and socializing that the Cape had to offer.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley on Sunday, May 15 from 2-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd., Wellesley Hills on Monday, May 16 at 12pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
