Helen D. Olson, 99, of Malden, formerly of Cambridge and Allston, May 11th. Beloved wife of the late James F. Olson. Mother of Janet and John Person of Malden, Sr. Clare Marie Olson, OSC (Carol) of Wappingers, Falls, NY, Nancy Leininger and Elizabeth Willis of Billerica, James and Catherine Olson of Surfside, SC, Mary and the late John Gioiosa of Malden, John Olson and Nancy of Wilmington and the late Robert and Paul Olson. Grandmother of Bryan, Jill, Nicholas, Michelle, Daniel, Rachel and Nicholina. Great grandmother of Viola, Amani, Grayson, Soli and Harper. Sister of the late Claire Ross, Mary Rita Marr, John and Robert Lynch. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Helen was born and raised in Allston. She moved to Cambridge as a young woman and has been a resident of Malden for over 50 years. Helen worked for Intercity Homemaker Services in Malden for over 20 years. A devout Catholic, Helen was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Choir Member, Religious Education Teacher, as a member of Catholic Daughters and as a member of Tobet’s Tribe during her time in the parish. She was also an election pole worker at the Beebe School in Malden; a volunteer for the Amerige Park 4th of July festivities; a member of the Melrose Garden Club and she enjoyed line dancing. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday May 17th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday May 16th from 4-7 PM.
