James “Jason” Griffin, 78, of Enigma passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Griffin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Mount Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Pete Jones and the Rev. Gerald Purvis will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Griffin’s family, nephews and close friends.
Born December 7, 1943, in Ocilla, Mr. Griffin was the son of the late Mack Griffin and Mary Whitley “Jack” Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lynda Gayle Barrentine Griffin; and one brother, Vernon Griffin. He was the owner of Griffin Farms and United Stakes of America in Enigma. He was a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan and loved antique cars, and he made walking canes and tomahawks. He was a member of Enigma Baptist Church and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Mary Kyle King Griffin of Enigma; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kay Griffin of Enigma; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Lance Ward of Nashville; Mrs. Griffin’s children, Roni and Allen Strickland and Craig and Alison King, all of Valdosta; one brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Mary Alice Griffin of Valdosta; three sisters, Frances Barfield Howell (Danny) of Enigma, Sara Nell and Jerry Greely and Barbara Griffin, all of Tifton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Cory Rogers and Sydney Land of Hahira, Parker and Kylie Haughton of Sparks, Julie Ann Griffin Alexander of Jacksonville, Florida; Mrs. Griffin’s grandchildren, Pate King and Abi King; and one great-granddaughter, Bailyn Joyce Haughton.
