LEICESTER: Steven F. " Rooster" Wood, 67, of 1073 Main Street, died Monday, May 9 in his home.
He leaves his father Donald F. Wood of Cherry Valley, two daughters; Jamie Lee Wood and her longtime boyfriend, Matthew Fargnoli of Spencer and Kayla Wood of Plymouth, two brothers; Kevin J. Wood of Cherry Valley and Alan Wood and his wife Lynn of Leicester, two sisters; Donna J. Harrington and her husband Mark of Leicester and Deborah McCue and her husband Andrew of Cherry Valley, his former wife Robin Clark, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers; Brian Wood who died in 2018 and David Wood who died in 2010. He will be joining his best friend Mike Guenette who died in 2020.
Steven was born in Worcester, son of Barbara A. (McPhillips) Wood who died in 2013. He graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester. He owned and operated Breezy Bends Pub for many years, helped run The Grand Cafe aka "Don's Place" and was most recently a self-employed painter. He was a member of "The Dog House Club" and the " M.M.M.C." He was a member of the "Sons of the American Legion" in Cherry Valley.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 14 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Calling hours are Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leicester Food Pantry, P.O. Box 333, Leicester, MA 01524.
