On Saturday May 7, 2022, Laurie Beth Toro, at age 62, left our physical realm for an eternal life in heaven above.
Laurie loved all creatures big and small, be it pet turtles, cats, pet rats, and even a chameleon for good measure, with a special fondness for her dogs; she raised many a legendary playmate and protector. She adored small children and their curious and imaginative minds, and took great pride in her years of working with them in many capacities in the educational system. Nothing gave her greater joy than being outdoors and having her hands in the soil, where she possessed a magical gift to grow and nurture all of gods beautiful creations; her orchids are unsurpassed. Laurie enjoyed fishing and working in the garage woodshop with her husband of 35 years, and was a voracious reader who passed this passion to her children. She was creative in all things crafty, be it painting (from walls to trinkets), to woodcrafts, painted rocks, and homemade cards and costumes. Her meatloaf and tacos were legendary, and her love of Pepsi with melted ice (and maybe some Captain Morgan’s rum) and the color red well known. There was never a moment without music; from classic rock and country, to a good hip hop party anthem, she enjoyed it all at full blast and epic dancing (or housekeeping) to accompany. Her absence as a loving daughter, devoted spouse, caring sibling, proud mother, thoughtful grandmother, and joyful friend leaves a profound void which cannot be filled.
Laurie will be deeply missed and is survived by her husband, Gary Toro; her daughter Cynthia Silva and husband Jason and grandchildren Colby, Jaxon, Jadie, and Shea; her daughter Kimberley Legeman and husband Sean and grandson Charles; her mother, Patricia Langosh (preceded in death by stepfather Gary Langosh); her father Lyle Hall and stepmother Kitty Hall; siblings Donald Hall, Cynthia Hamm, William Hall, Kary Brock, and Kristy Langosh; and stepsiblings Patrick Leising and K.C. Ponce.
Please wear a bright colors to celebrate her life; services in memorial to be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00am at JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main St., Ventura, 93001 – reception to immediately follow at the Funeral Home.
