MANCHESTER – Doris L. Auger died peacefully May 7, 2022 at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late William D. Auger of Manchester.
Doris Carrier was born November 4, 1927 in Manchester, the younger daughter of Georgianna and Adelard Carrier.
Upon graduating from Hesser College, she remained in Manchester and married the love of her life, William Auger. Shortly thereafter, she joined Lyons Iron Works where she was employed as an Office Administrator. She and William then founded Stitching Inc. in the Jefferson Mill, and the business was later purchased by Wolverine Worldwide. They relocated to Malone, NY where she worked for Tru-Stitch Footwear until her retirement in 1993.
During her retirement, she lived in Florida until returning to New Hampshire in 2006. Doris (Grammy) continued to do what she did best – caring for her family, sharing life’s little secrets, and providing gentle guidance as we started our own families. She spent much of her later years playing cribbage and backgammon with her son and grandchildren, coloring and playing countless games of Uno with her great-grandchildren, attending their various school and athletic events, and partaking in weekly underground Mahjong games with her girlfriends.
Doris is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, William, her parents Georgianna and Adelard, and her sister Rita Langley (Carrier). She is survived by her son Billy of Manchester, her grandson Todd Auger and wife Christine and their two children, Ian and Alexandria of Hooksett, her granddaughter Stefani Hirsch and husband Ethan and their daughter Zadie of North Yarmouth ME, and her granddaughter Natalie Auger and husband, Jean-Philippe Mars, and their two children, Najean and Kalippe of Manchester.
