David Nasjleti, 94 years old, passed away with dignity and loved ones close, on May 1, 2022 in his home at Providence Place in Holyoke. David was born in San Juan, Argentina, June 11, 1927 and came to the United States as a Joycean scholar at Yale. His studies continued with a Masters degree from the University of Vermont. He ended with a doctorate from Cornell University while teaching linguistics there. His career went on to become an Associate Professor at Harvard and an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois. He met his wife Anne Margot while he was a student at the University of Vermont. At the age of 58 he changed his entire career and took a job as a linguist for Caterpillar, Inc. David was one of the patentees for computer-based method and system for document development. Together with his wife, David was an advocate for the disability community. David enjoyed technology, travel in Europe, Asia, and South America. He is survived by his wife Anne Margot Nasjleti, their children Edmund and Ed’s wife Anne Barnes; Francesca Josephine “Jo” Cowgill and her husband Bill Cowgill; David “Lex” Nasjleti, Marta “Esther” Nasjleti and her husband David “Dave” Aronson; and Mark Nasjleti. He also leaves his beloved grandson William “Will” Cowgill. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
