Manuel Burgos-Oquendo, 88, of Worcester, died Tuesday May 3rd with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eliza Ortiz; four sons, Miguel Burgos of Worcester, Manuel Burgos of Canovana, PR, Orlando and Edwin Burgos both of Ocala, FL; his daughter, Elizabeth Burgos of Worcester; two sisters, Sofia Burgos of Southbridge and Veronica Burgos of Orocovis PR; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandsons. He was predeceased by two sons, Jorge L. and Luis A. Burgos and three grandchildren.
He was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico the son of Andres Burgos and Paula Oquendo; and had been employed by Puerto Rico Dairy as a truck driver and later as a security guard after moving to Worcester. Manuel enjoyed cooking and watching TV, but his greatest joy was time spent with his family.
His funeral is Saturday, May 7th with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery.
