Llaertis George Gjinis, 41, of Worcester died Saturday, April 30th at home. He leaves his parents, Ilia and Afrodite (Kentros) Gjinis; a brother, Vasilios Gjinis and his wife, Katina of Worcester; and a nephew, Dimitri Gjinis; his aunt, Eli; his uncle, Filip Xhai; cousins, Ira, Kostas; his aunt, Eleni; his cousins, Thoma, Nestor Xhupi; and extended family overseas.
He was born in Gjirokaster, Albania. Llaertis co-owned the Specialty Sandwich Shop in Holden. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was proud of his Greek heritage. Mr. Gjinis earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Framingham State College. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, playing soccer, and lifting weights. Llaertis was an enthusiastic fan of the New England Patriots, the Celtics, and the Boston Red Sox.
Calling hours are Friday, May 6th from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
