CHICOPEE – Erna A. (Wysske) Wedemeyer, 97, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, May 2, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Saint Joseph’s Residence in Enfield, Connecticut surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Augum, East Prussia, Germany on December 5, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Richard and Louisa M. (Judel) Wysske. She was raised and educated in Germany and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1953 where she lived in New York before moving to Chicopee in 1958. She was a loving homemaker to her family and was a member of the Springfield Turnverein in Feeding Hills where she was a member of their Ladies Auxiliary and Women’s Athletic Organization. During her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling and had bowled well into her 70’s. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Richard Wedemeyer who was Called Home on June 23, 1992. She leaves her three loving children, Eva Jack and her husband, Lloyd, of Feeding Hills, Juergen Wedemeyer and his wife, Donna, of Chicopee and Rusty Wedemeyer and his wife, Sandy, of Sedalia, MO; her seven cherished grandchildren, Eric Jack and his wife, Tina, Christine Wright and her husband, Joshua, Doug Wedemeyer and his wife, Kate, Kevin Wedemeyer and his wife, Amanda, Jesse Wedemeyer and his wife, Ashton, Nathan Wedemeyer and his wife, Charisma, and Andrew Wedemeyer; her eight cherished great grandchildren, Brendan and Zachary Wright, Colby and Bryce Wedemeyer, Isaac Wedemeyer, Decatur and Everest Wedemeyer and Nico Wedemeyer; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Wedemeyer and Wysske families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three dear brothers, Karl Heinz, Horst and Kurt Wysske; and her two dear sisters, Gertrude Loucks and Anni Wagner. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private at Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee.
