Obituary

Northbridge: On December 21, 1936 Margaret Banks (Burness) Lund Tagliente was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the eldest daughter of Williamina (Banks) and William Burness. Her sisters, Irene (Cathy) and Marietta, were born over the next few years. Living during WWII, carrying gas masks to school, blackout shades each night, bomb shelter in the backyard, live-in borders and rationing, the family survived.

At the age of 18, Margaret embarked for blue skies and a new adventure on the SS American Builder leaving behind her Scottish family and ventured to Boston, MA to stay with the Banks family (Bethany Congregational Church pastor) in Quincy, Mass. Being renamed Margie by her new friends and family, she learned the ropes of this new country. Becoming a US citizen meant giving up her British citizenship, which she willingly did October 3, 1966. Her Scottish family eventually emigrated to New Zealand, passing through Massachusetts on their way.

Marrying Andrew J. Lund Jr. at age 21, she raised 5 children - Bonnie Lund Johnson of Boylston, William Andrew (deceased 1983), Christopher (deceased 1987), Peter Joseph of Sutton, and David Andrew of Northbridge. She leaves her loving family including her three children and eight grandchildren, Nikki Adamson, Bryan and Melissa Johnson, Maxwell, Alexander and Charlotte Margaret Lund, and Rachel and Joshua Perryman and her first great granddaughter, Isabella Mae Adamson (daughter of Nikki). Margaret is also survived by her two sisters, Cathy and Marty, who reside in Auckland, New Zealand.

Living in Quincy, Weymouth and then moving to Northbridge in the 60s, she has lived with Bonnie in Boylston for the last 5 years.

Margaret met the Lord at Billy Graham’s Glasgow Crusade in 1955. She become President of Women’s Aglow in the Northbridge area and then joined their Area Board. For years, Margaret and Frank held spiritual meetings at their home with Ralph and Pauline Nault, The New Life Ministry. Margaret was a sought after Christian speaker discussing spiritual hope and encouragement with music played on her autoharp.

Working at the Oxford Senior Center as the Meals on Wheels Coordinator and then Council on Aging Director, Margaret enjoyed coordinating the building of the new Senior Center and encouraging this population on the many bus trips, adventures and fun events that she orchestrated.

Margaret met and married the love of her life, Frank Tagliente in 1987, and they had many wonderful years together before he passed of alzheimers in 2013. Frank and his “Meggie” loved to travel visiting many places in the USA, and outside in Austria, Germany, Romania, Italy, Israel and New Zealand.

In 2016 Margaret returned to her birthplace of Scotland with 4 generations of her family. It was a very memorable trip - photo above taken there. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading, rearranging furniture and decorations, and traveling. She had many enjoyable experiences in Florida.

Margaret has had one foot linked into Heaven for many years. Margaret passed into glory on May 2, 2022. It is with joy that we celebrate Margaret’s 85 years of life. Now, forever in eternity with her Lord and her boys, Bill and Chris, her beloved Frank and others. She will await as the rest of her earthly family and friends, in His perfect timing, join her.

She spent the last weeks of her life surrounded by family and friends and the amazing staff at the River Terrace in Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret would be so pleased to know you might bless her spiritual friends, Ralph and Pauline Nault, with a donation to The New Life Ministry, 5792 NE Cubitis Ave B6, Arcadia, FL 34266

We plan to bury Mom/Mimi/Margaret with her husband, Frank Tagliente, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne in July. Please leave a note in the comments if you would like to be informed of the final arrangements.
