Manuel Ferreira Tereso Nogueira, age 73, passed away on April 30, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on August 8, 1948 in Redondas Turquel, Portugal. He was the son of the late Francisco Tereso Nogueira and Maria Ferreira Nogueira. Manuel served in the Portuguese Army and fought in the war of Mozambique, Africa. He moved to the United States in 1972 at the age of 22.He lived in chicopee for 49 years and the last year in Springfield. He was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish. He worked as a machine operator for years and retired from Dancasters Drop Forge. He was a member of the Portuguese American Club in Chicopee, multiple Beagle Club's in both Hampden and Hamshire County, and the American Kennel Club for many years. Manuel was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Many called him Manny or Manuel Chico. He loved family gatherings and was a dancing machine in his younger years. He loved to cook, make wine, and welcome all to his home to enjoy both with him and at times would love to sing portuguese freestyle with friends. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sofia (Maria) Nogueira of Springfield; one daughter, Liliana Tereso Rodriguez and her husband Christian of Springfield; two brothers, Isaias Nogueira and Martinho Nogueira; four sisters, Rosalina Tereso, Maria Tereso, Zita Rodrigo, and Cremilde Murca; two beloved grandchildren Alyssa Tilbury and Sebastian Rodriguez along with many extended family members and friends who love him and will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his daughter Helsa Nogueira who passed away in 2015 and by two brothers, Leonardo Tereso and Jose Ferreira. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
