Patricia A. (Dillon) Kenary, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26th, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home.
She leaves her daughters Donna P. Perry and Diane M. Harizi of Holden, Nancy J. Wong of Worcester, Barbara A. McGurn of Charlton and Joan M. Greenhalgh of Worcester, as well as her son James F. Kenary of Holden. She also leaves 12 loving grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents Patrick Dillon and Margaret Driscoll, her loving husband of 53 years Robert F. Kenary, her two sons, Stephen P. Kenary and Robert J. Kenary, her sisters Margaret Wiechniak, Maureen McCarthy and Nancy Proffitt, and her brother Thomas Dillon.
Patricia was born in Worcester and attended Commerce High School, going on to work for several years at the New England Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. After having eight children, Patricia transitioned to being a homemaker.
When her children were grown, Patricia returned to work as a nurse’s aide at Donna Kay Rest Home in Worcester and was deeply passionate about the care she delivered.
In her free time, she was an avid reader, an engaging storyteller, and the heart of the Kenary family. Patricia also loved to watch murder mystery shows on television and kept up with the current affairs. She regularly attended Christ the King church and was strong in her faith right up until her final days.
In her final few months, Patricia was cared for with compassion by a team from the VNA and hospice, and her family is deeply thankful for their efforts.
Her quick wit, compassion, and loving smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family will hold a private service to celebrate her life and, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to VNA Care, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
