Dartmouth - Ms. Betsey White of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts died December 14, 2021, at Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA from complications of the Coronavirus.
She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Raymond St. Germain and the late Jean (Rodman) St. Germain of South Dartmouth.
She is survived by her two sons Joshua White of Ventura, California, Jeremiah White of Pickens, South Carolina and her Granddaughter, Emma, also of South Carolina. She is also survived by her cousins; Beth Solomon of
Frisco, Texas, Sara Lamarre of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Chris Renfree of The Villages, Florida, Peter Renfree of South Carolina and Dr. Phil Lamarre of Burlington, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by sister Polly Skiff Killion, of Warren, Rhode Island, who also died from the Coronavirus. She is preceded in death by her aunts; Joan Reed of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Dorothy Renfree
of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Hilda Lamarre of Fairhaven, Massachusetts and her cousin, Jonathan Reed of Boston, Massachusetts.
Betsey graduated from New Bedford High School. She spent many years living in the south where she worked as a nurse's aide and a hairstylist. Betsey returned to Dartmouth and later lovingly cared for her mother for
many, many months until her mother passed away from cancer. She was a member of the Anthony Beach Association. Betsey loved the outdoors and especially the summers she spent with her mother, her two Great Aunts and her two sons at Rose Meadows in Chilmark on Martha's Vineyard. Betsey enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, folk music, swimming in the ocean, her beloved cat and going for long walks. She was also an accomplished pianist.
While Betsey had a challenging life, it never affected her spirit as she was always kind and thoughtful regarding others around her.
Arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford, MA. Her graveside service will take place on Wednesday May 4, 2022 at 1 P.M. in Rural Cemetery, 149 Dartmouth St. at the corner of Oak St. New Bedford with Rev. Scott Ciosek officiating. All attendees are requested to meet at the main entrance to proceed in a group to the gravesite. It is suggested remembrances be made in Betsey's name to the Animal Rescue League, 31 Ventura Drive, North Dartmouth, Ma. 02747.
