Eileen P. "Paula" (Foran) Gillen, a longtime resident of Charlestown and formerly of Dublin, Ireland, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her home in Charlestown. She is 87 years of age.
Paula was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 29, 1934, a daughter of the late John Foran and Bridget (Bradley) Foran. She grew in Dublin, Ireland where she was educated before immigrating to the United States. Paula was a homemaker most of her adult life where she cherished all the special moments taking care of her husband and her son and daughter and their families. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening but her most proud and joyous occasion was when she was able to be an outstanding hostess in her own home in Charlestown on Bunker Hill Day every year where she welcomed all who came to visit.
Paula is the beloved wife of the late CDR Robert L. Gillen, USN (Retired). She is the devoted mother of CDR Robert L. Gillen, USN (Retired) and his wife Kathy, and Eileen Dannemiller and her husband John. She is the loving and proud Olive to LCDR John, USN, Robert, Steven, Tara, and Samantha. She is the sister of Rita Smee and the late Bridie, Lily, Kathleen, Mona, Angela, Maureen, Ethna, Tommy, Michael, John, Paddy, and Peter.
Paula's Funeral Services and burial at the Veteran's Administration National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
