Obituary

Gary R. Harris, 62, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with Pastor Vance Wonser of Kenai, Alaska officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. James Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church on Saturday.

Mr. Harris was born September 15, 1959, in Washington, D.C., to Jeanette Spicer Hudson and Delmar Robert Harris. He attended Grace Theological Seminary. Mr. Harris served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. Together with his wife, they served as missionaries with Arctic Barnabas Ministries. He also worked in IT for the State of Alaska. He enjoyed photography and playing the harmonica. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping and hiking in Alaska as well as riding his bike on century rides. He loved t-shirts and being a Papa. He was a lover of all kinds of music and made certain his three kids inherited his musical passion. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kris Harris of Ocilla; children: Tyler Robert Harris of St. Petersburg, Florida and Cassandra Jean & Peter Elliot Rayl of Warsaw, Indiana; a grandson, Judah Robert Rayl; his mother, Jeanette & Tuffy Hudson of Ocilla along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Faithe Elizabeth Rayl.
