Obituary

The love, kindness and generosity stored in Tammy’s heart were her treasure chest. It was a treasure chest open to all who needed it. If you asked, presto, it was open. And even when you didn’t ask, Tammy just knew, she opened her heart for you. She spread her positivity around to all those in need of a smile, a good laugh or pick me up. Tammy had it all in abundance.
Tamara J. Barles, 58, of Woonsocket died Tuesday April 19, 2022 at home.
Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Barney B. Barles and Carol A. (Posocco) Barles.
Tammy grew up in Cumberland. Over the years her travels brought her to live in number of different areas of the country including California, Las Vegas, Tennessee and Florida. She was a resident of Woonsocket for the past several years.
In her earlier years Tammy worked as a nanny providing day care for children. She also worked in the cafeteria at the General Motors training center in Dedham.
Tammy liked watching movies. The music of her generation, the sounds of the 70s and 80s was the rhythm of her life. She also had a penchant for TV shows, anything from the classics of the 1960s up through today, especially her soap operas. General Hospital was her favorite, Tammy followed it religiously.
Tammy was a loving and generous soul. Her heart was too big for her body, her care and concern for those in her life surpassing all others. At the drop of a hat Tammy would stop whatever she was doing and be there for someone in need.
While Tammy left us way too early her legacy of love will live in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her and call her a friend, most especially her sisters. Sister Love Forever!
Tammy is survived by her sisters Brenda B. Gates and her husband Michael of Cranston, Rhonda Mandeville and her husband Daniel of Glocester and Teresa DaSilva of West Warwick. She was the loving aunt of Beth Lavallee, David DaSilva, Gianna Scotti and Michael Gates, Jr. and great aunt to their children.
Services for Tammy are private.
