John G. Almonte, 83, of Cedar Swamp Road, Smithfield, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Antonia A. (Camardo) Almonte. They had been married for 61 years.
Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Frances (DiCenzo) Almonte. He had lived in Smithfield for 49 years.
John was an Operating Engineer for Local #57 for over 25 years before retiring in 2002. He enjoyed working in his yard.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son: John G. Almonte, Jr. and his wife, Claudia of Providence, his grandchildren: John Almonte, III and his wife, Stephanie, Elena, Angela and Dominic Almonte, his siblings: Pasquale, Ronald and Donald Almonte all of North Providence, Edward Almonte of Florida and Elaine Venditelli and Loretta Venditelli both of Johnston. He was the brother of the late Anna Casale, Helen Deandrea and Edith Ricci.
His funeral will be Friday at 10am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation 9-10am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
