SPENCER: It is with deep sorrow that the family of Gale Viola (Benoit) Zukowski of Spencer announces her death. Gale passed away at home while in her sleep on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 after her journey with Alzheimers.
Gale leaves her husband of 22 years Robert L. Zukowski and her children Pamela Wood of Southbridge, Laura Lafaille of Sturbridge, Peter and Stacy Thibault, Jr. of Melbourne, FL, Jan and Heather Zukowski of Cranston, Jeffrey and Nicole Zukowski of Dudley and Stefan Zukowski of Swampscott. She loved and adored her thirteen grandchildren Dan, Matt, Danielle, Noah, Petey, Andrew, Nathan, Jack, Ellery, Cole, Amelia, Tommy and Tyler. Gale is survived by her two brothers, Ronald and Judy Benoit of Bodfish, CA, and Bob and Cheryl Benoit of Oakham and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Joyce (Benoit) DePasquale and brother Donald Benoit. Gale was born in Worcester the daughter of Edmund and Leora (Rocheford) Benoit.
Gale’s life revolved around her family and especially her grandchildren. After she retired from Fallon Pharmacy working as a Pharmacy Tech, she helped care for her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed the weekly Sunday dinners on the lake always sure to bake something from “scratch.” Gale loved the annual family vacation to the “Magic Kingdom’, the many years with friends at Rhythm n’ Roots, the annual trips to Quebec and Rockport. She was a kind a generous person always finding a charity to support. The family would like to thank Gale’s care team at Fallon Summit Eldercare for their support of Gale and her family. The Team included Jessica Lopez RN, Maura Symonis RN and Melissa Meunier NP. A special thank you to those who provided tender loving home care for Gale. These special caregivers included Sue Miller, Carol Worth, Yasmine Elkhaouili, Patty Curboy, Natalia Ward, Carrie Mantha and Ashley Antkowiak.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, with a Mass at 11:30 am in Mary Queen of the Rosary, 7 Church St., Spencer, MA. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Inurnment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, 663 N Woodstock Rd, Southbridge, MA 01550.
