Jay W. Burtch, 35 of Acushnet, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Jay was adored by godmother Anna Taber. She was there with him since the day he was born. She was always there for Jay and loved him so much. His mother, Robyn Burtch passed away when he was seven years of age. His aunt Cheryl Burtch had also passed away and his grandparents Bill and Arlene Burtch that raised him passed away a few years ago. So the family Keri Melchionne, and my children Hailey and Thomas along with Eric DeBarros whom he called his brother and especially Anna Taber were the closest to him .
Some memories from his best friend Eric DeBarros from when Jay was younger:
He was the best in manhunt a game they all played in the hood and not only did love to climb but man was he fast that kid could run. He loved climbing trees since he was young you be yelling for him and hear him but couldn't find him he would be way up at the top of a tree somewhere. He always loved the outdoors, we would explore in the woods all day long in the neighborhood.
But Jay if it was extreme it was for him. He loved his bike and 9 times out of ten he was on one wheel or no wheels he had a pair of speed skates that he loved to zip around on. He was always a hard worker since we where young we built all kinds of forts all over the neighborhood! From in the wood too thick brush in peoples yards and even the most amazing igloos. One time he built one so big all of us in the hood could fit had a fireplace in it and all best I ever seen.
When Jay was younger loved farming with his cousin Shane. He also loved going on horse trail rides. He also loved big equipment operating and learning as much as he could about it. He loved the ocean and one of the best memories he had with his cousin Shane was going parasailing on block island.
Jay was a person with a heart of gold that would give shirt off his back to anyone. He lived with his girlfriend, Keri Melchionne. For over 4 years we were soul mates. I had two children whom he took on the role of being their father. Anyone can make a baby but he was a true father to my daughter Hailey and son Thomas. We were our own little family with our cat, Michael and puppy, Travis. We were always laughing and joking around spending everyday together making the best of everything. We were our own little family and that meant everything to us. We would do anything for each other. My children called him daddy for a reason because he was the best thing that could've ever happened to us. God made him for my kids and myself he was the one and only for us.
