Carolyn Delores Comfort (Travers) age 86, Tewksbury resident for 67 years, died peacefully at home on Thursday April 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a devoted wife of 54 years to the late James Arthur Comfort, Sr.
She was the loving mother of four children; Deborah A. McCourt of Hopewell, New Jersey, James A. Comfort, Jr. of Northbridge, MA., Glen P. Comfort and his wife Linda of Billerica, MA., and Kevin J. Comfort and his wife Joanne of Flemington, NJ. Proud and doting “NANA” of 11 grandchildren.
She is also survived by 2 sisters, Anna Miele of Burlington and Evelyn Mottolo and her husband Robert of Reading; one brother Eugene from East Boston; and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Fishing Creek, Maryland on May 15,1935, she was the daughter of Major Travers and Martha (Moore) Travers.
She moved to Cambridge, MA in 1951 and met the love of her life Jim Comfort, in 1953. They married in 1954 and moved to Tewksbury in 1955 where she lived for the rest of her life.
Carolyn was employed by the IRS of Andover, MA for over 30 years. Her retired life was spent living life to its fullest with her family and friends.
She was a shining star full of life, laughter and love. Carolyn enjoyed many activities including line-dancing, ballroom dancing, water aerobics and the many trips she took with her “senior” friends! She loved to travel and spend time with her loving family.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 19, from 4-7pm, at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St Williams Church, 1351 Main St. Rte. 38 Tewksbury. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made payable to “Friends of the Elderly” and mailed to the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
