Gail Vernet, aged 85, of Noank passed away peacefully on April 13th. She was born in 1936 in New Haven to Lily and Adams Martin. Gail graduated from University of Connecticut, where she met Ron Vernet, whom she married the day after graduation. The two spent 54 years together, and Gail passed ten years to the day after her late husband.
Gail and Ron spent the early years of their marriage as water ski instructors in Florida before moving back to Connecticut, where she became an elementary school teacher and raised her sons. She cherished her family, and especially loved spending time in Vermont or boating on Long Island Sound. In her retirement Gail was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and took ardent interest in studying her ancestry.
Gail is survived by her sons Greg Vernet of Vermont and Brad Vernet of Mystic. As well as her grandchildren Cody, Emmye, and Martin. She is predeceased by her husband Ron and her sister Lynn Pierpont.
