Deborah Slitor Brauning
October 27, 1943 – March 22, 2022
Deborah Slitor Brauning passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA with her family by her side. After years of declining health, she died suddenly of a stroke.
Deborah was born on October 27, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to Louise (Bean) and Richard Eaton Slitor. A long-time resident of Bethesda, MD, she graduated from Walter Johnson High School. Deborah continued her education at Garland Junior College in Boston where she majored in early childhood education and graduated with honors. She taught pre-school in Belmont, MA and Bethesda, MD for many years. Her happiest times were devoted to teaching and caring for young children. Her interest in art, drawing and watercolors, inspired many arts and crafts activities for her students.
Deborah was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother, Christopher W. E. Slitor, of Arlington, VA. She is survived by her sister, Prudence S. Crozier of Wellesley, MA, her brother, Nicholas W. Slitor of Bird-in-Hand, PA., nephew, Matthew E. Crozier of Concord, MA and nieces, The Rev. Abigail Crozier Nestlehutt of Berwyn, PA and Patience W. Crozier of Wellesley, MA as well as seven grand nieces and grand nephews.
Her family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Belmont Manor Nursing Center for their care and attention during her last years.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at 11:00 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Wellesley, MA.
