Dennis Michael Coffey age 72, Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, resident of Brockton Ma., formally of Mansfield Ma.
Eldest son of the late Thomas Coffey and Doris (Sullivan) Coffey of Mansfield Ma. Husband of Carol (Rocci) Coffey, formally of Stoughton Ma.
Dennis leaves his wife Carol and two sons Jonathan of Dedham Ma., and Michael of Brockton Ma., sisters Candance Miller of East Taunton, Darlene Reagan of Maynard Ma., brothers Charles of Brewer Maine, and Timothy of Dayville Ct.
Dennis graduated from Mansfield Ma. school system in 1968. He joined the Marine Corps while in high school and served two tours in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he was promoted four times to the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Stars, National Defense Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat āVā, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Meritorious Mast, and The Republic of Vietnams Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. He received an Honorable Discharge in September 1970.
Dennis graduated from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor od Science Degree in Special Education in 1977. He also received a Master of Arts Degree in Health Care Administration from Framingham State College in 1987. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Mental Retardation for twenty-three years and retired in 2000.
In 2012 Dennis was given 100% Service-Connected Disability due to his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
