Faye Rucker English Harper, 92, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside memorial services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Herschel Harper, Sr. The Rev. Ike Thomas, Irwin County Hospice Chaplain will officiate the services.
Mrs. Harper was born May 11, 1929, in Houston County, Georgia, to the late James & Bella Rucker. She was a homemaker and worked at the sewing factory in Ocilla for many years. Mrs. Harper loved her children, grandchildren, working in her flowers, her animals and friends and going to the beauty shop.
She is survived by her children: Stanley Floyd English & Fannie of Ocilla, Gloria Ann English Ingraham & Bob of Gainesville, Dianne Maddox & Reggie of Newnan and Herschel Harper, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Floyd English and Herschel Harper, Sr.; children: an infant daughter, Joan English, Frank English, Roy English and Shirley English McDonald; a granddaughter, Mary Jo Girndt Weiner; three sisters: Hazel English, Mozelle English and Margaret Rucker; and three brothers: Bud Rucker, Dennis Rucker and Franklin Rucker.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Angela Leyse and her staff at the Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home for their outstanding care of Mrs. Harper in her last years and final days, including the late Christy Sheffield. The caregivers are a very special kind of people. We also want to thank the Irwin County Hospice nurses for their loving care and kindness in the last few days, especially Miss Sandy, who was with her when she went home to glory.
