Charles G. Mitsiopoulos, age 74, of Brockton, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of late Diane (Karioitis) Mitsiopoulos and George Mitsiopoulos. Charles was raised in Jamaica Plain, where he brought up his family before moving to Brockton with his beloved late wife and best friend, Claire (Thibodeau) Mitsiopoulos.
He graduated from Charlestown Technical High School and participated in the electrical program. Charles served for the United States Navy and received a National Defense Service Medal.
Charles worked as an electrician for many years throughout the Boston area. He enjoyed shooting, fishing, and hunting. Although he never was able to bring home that big buck he always dreamt of, he was still a great shot. Charles was a proud member of the NRA and Braintree Rifle and Pistol Club. He always found tranquility in the great outdoors as well did spending time with his family. A huge fan of classic rock, there was never a family event that he would not play “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry. Despite coming off as a gruff, Charles truly was just a gentle teddy bear and had a soft side for animals, especially for his pup, Raven.
Charles was a devoted father of William “Bill” Mitsiopoulos and his wife, Jodi of Abington, George Mitsiopoulos and his wife, Mary of Biloxi, Mississippi, and his daughter, Tara Mitsiopoulos of Farmington, Maine. He was a loving “Lumpy” to his five grandchildren, Meaghan Mitsiopoulos, Christopher Mitsiopoulos, Zachary Mitsiopoulos, Alexus Mitsiopoulos, and Damien Burke, whom Charles was particularly close. Damien and Charles had a special relationship and shared the love for the song “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd. He was also the big brother to his sister Ellen Doulos and her husband Kyriakos of Victorville, California. Charles will be missed dearly by his family; however, he is now at peace with the love of his life, Claire Mitsiopoulos.
Services will be private and visiting hours will be respectfully omitted.
