Pamela A. Gookin, 52

Dateline: Norton, MA

Pamela A. (Hansen) Gookin, age 52, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the Christopher A. Gookin, to whom she was wed for twenty-three years at the time of his death on May 9, 2018.

Born in Boston, MA on September 26, 1969, she was a loving daughter of the late Donald W. and Margaret A. “Peg” (Mullen) Hansen.

Pam grew up in Norton, was a 1987 graduate of Norton High School and continued her education, receiving an Associates Degree from Dean Junior College in Franklin.

A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Pam was also employed for many years in the hospitality industry. A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, nothing made her happier than her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Pam had a special place in her heart for horses and all of nature’s animals and when younger was an accomplished equestrian.

She is survived by her devoted children: Ashley N. Meede and her husband Kevin of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher J. Gookin and his fiancé Jiuliana of Norton and Rachel M. Gookin of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Kaiden A. Madeira and Christopher A. Gookin. She was the dear sister of Donald W. Hansen and his wife Claudia of North Carolina and Kathleen M. Madden of Plainville. She was the treasured aunt of Kaitlin, Samantha, Thomas, Tessa, Dutch and Dylan. She was the daughter-in-law of Denise and Paul Cassidy of Attleboro. She is also survived by her best lifelong friend Maureen “Moe” McCarthy, as well as many other loving friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 18th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street, (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.

In lieu of flowers, Pam’s family would prefer donations in her memory to be made to the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary, 37 Eddy Street, Norton, MA 02766.
