Obituary

CHICOPEE – Laurence Lemelin, 80, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 9, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Saint Néree, Province of Quebec, Canada on February 23, 1942, the beloved daughter of the late Edmond A. and Lucienne M. (Boutin) Lemelin. She was raised in Saint Néree and immigrated to the North End of Springfield with her family in 1964. She later moved to Chicopee in 1969 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as a Nanny for many years before working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. She leaves her four loving brothers, Jean Guy Lemelin and his wife, Doris, of Springfield, Lucien G. Lemelin of Delray Beach, FL, Damien P. Lemelin and his partner, Sue Bouffard, of Chicopee and Donald J. Lemelin and his wife, Carrie, of Chicopee; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members in the United States, and Canada. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her cherished nephew, Jamie S. Lemelin; and her sister in law, Deborah “Debbie” Lemelin. Laurence requests that everyone wear her favorite color pink as a Celebration of Her Life and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104, (please meet directly at the Church). Her Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
