Jerrell Blackwell, 73, of Abbeville, Georgia, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, April 15, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor, the Rev. David Clark, and the Rev. Johnny Ashe officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Mr. Blackwell was born August 17, 1948, in Dodge County, Georgia, to the late Arthur & Geraldine Harrington Blackwell. After graduating from Abbeville High School, he attended technical school. He worked as a welder, mechanic, and heavy equipment operator all of his life. He was a professor of modern technology. Mr. Blackwell loved to fish and will be greatly missed by his dogs, Buddy and Ice.
He is survived by his three sons: Joey & Missy Blackwell of Virginia, Jerry & Necole Blackwell of Abbeville, and Jamey Blackwell and his fiancé Allie of Abbeville; and their mother, Brenda H. Blackwell of Abbeville; grandchildren: Dawn Straka, Keaton Blackwell, Sinjin Blackwell, Tyler Blackwell, Sierra Blackwell, Cole Blackwell, Cora Lynn Blackwell, and Bentley Blackwell; two brothers: Lee & Joan Blackwell of Rebecca and Mike & Christie Blackwell of Ellijay; a special niece and nephew: Charlene Luther and Bryant Blackwell; and his mother-in-law, Allie Mae Spurling of Abbeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darline “Doll” Spurling.
