Richard E. McCollim
Retired Mechanical Engineer

TEWKSBURY: Richard E. McCollim, age 84, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Born in Lynn on September 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Ralph McCollim and the late Ellene (Phillips) McCollim.

He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School. Richard later attended Franklin Institute of Technology where he received an Associate Degree.

In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his active-duty service. He was stationed at K6 Pyeongtaek, S. Korea.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he was employed by Raytheon Corporation, Mobil Solar, and Evergreen Solar until his retirement.

Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling throughout the United States and spent a few winters in Florida spending time with his family. In addition, he also enjoyed scuba diving in High School and was a member of the New England Divers Frogmen’s Club.

Family members include his children, Daniel J. McCollim, of Worcester, Mary L. Poulin and her husband J., of Sandown, NH, Richard E. McCollim,. Jr., of Nottingham, MD, Shawn E. McCollim, of Harvard, MA and the late Kenneth R. McCollim; seven grandchildren, and his brother, Ralph McCollin, of Brentwood, NH.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 14, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. A graveside service with interment of his ashes will be held on Friday, April 15th at 10 a.m. in the Veterans section at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury, MA. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
