Frederick C. Crandall (Fred), 73, died surrounded by his family after battling a brief illness on April 5, 2022 in Kissimmee, Florida. Fred was born on June 12, 1948 in New London, CT, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John F. Crandall Sr.
Fred is survived by his wife, Darleen, two daughters, Jacqueline Crandall Church and her husband Allen Church, and Tangie Crandall, granddaughters Albrianna and Emma Farnum, as well as his nephew Ralph Babonas, whom he loved like a son.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his siblings, Priscilla Sauchuk, Edith Knaff and Richard Crandall.
After graduating from Fitch Sr. High School, he went to work for Electric Boat doing what he loved, being a welder. Fred enjoyed scuba diving where he made many friends. He cherished these friendships dearly.
Fred will be forever missed by his family, but he will live on forever in the hearts of all who love him. His last words were "I'll be watching over all of you and this is not good-bye but I'll see you again."
Fred's family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 15, from 6 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 11:00am at the funeral home with burial immediately following in Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Ledyard. After the burial a celebration of Fred's life will be held at the VFW, Route 1, Mystic.
