Marie Adrena Monahan (DeCourcey) passed away peacefully at home in the company of her loving family on Thursday, April 7th. She was 90. Born and raised in Medford, Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Hogan) DeCourcey. A proud graduate of St. Clement High School, Marie was a devoted wife, mother and sister.
A Medford resident until moving to Norton three years ago, Marie was dedicated to caring for her family. Throughout the years she worked in retail, as an assistant librarian and as a bookkeeper. As a young woman she loved to dance especially at the Irish dances, where she met her late beloved husband John J. Monahan. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and still cherished the friendships she kept from her school days. At home she was a voracious reader and also liked to watch television. She was a devout woman who remained loyal to Saint Clement Parish and as time went on, prayed the mass and the rosary every day while watching Boston Catholic TV.
The beloved wife of the late John J. Monahan, Marie was a devoted mother to John C. Monahan of Norton, James F. Monahan of Norton and Grace M. Monahan of Scituate. She was a loving grandmother to Caitlin R. Monahan of Brooklyn, NY. She is predeceased by her dear brother Francis DeCourcey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 12th from 4 – 8 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford.
