MONAGHAN Patrick J. Longtime resident of Roslindale, formerly of Water Lane, Bohermore, Co. Galway, Ireland passed away on April 7, 2022. Beloved husband of Mary T. "Tessie" (Riordan) Monaghan for 62 years. Devoted father of Michael F. Monaghan (Ret. U.S. Army) and his wife Christine of Alabama, James J. Monaghan (Ret. Army National Guard) and his wife Viola of Hyde Park, Noreen P. Monaghan of Medfield, Patrick J. Monaghan Jr. of Roslindale, Shaun F. Monaghan of Roslindale, Kevin D. Monaghan and his wife Joanne of West Roxbury, and Brendan G. Monaghan and his wife Paula of Dedham. Loving grandfather of Meagan, Melanie, James Jr., Erin, Rebecca, Daniel, Kayla, Taylor, and Tyler. Great-grandfather of Morgan.
Brother of Bernadette Connaughton of West Roxbury, and Ann Monaghan of Dennisport, and the late Bridget O’Sullivan, Winifred Conneely, Kathleen Gorham, Margaret Cooke, and James, Murty, and Michael Monaghan. Also survived by many nieces, and nephews in the U.S. and Ireland.
Patrick honorably served our nation while assigned to the Old Guard at Washington D.C. for President Eisenhower during the Korean Conflict Era. He was a longtime dedicated employee of the Home For Little Wanders, where he wore many hats. He was a member of the Irish American Veteran Post #1, Roslindale, as well as the Irish American Social Club, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Tuesday, April 12th from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13th at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John Chrysostom Church at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited, the Funeral Mass will also be live-streamed and can be found on the church website stjohnchrysostom02132.org (click the youtube link, it will begin at the same time as the Mass). Interment in the St. James Section, of St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Patrick’s memory to the Home for Little Wanderers 10 Guest St. Brighton, MA 02135
