Thomas B. Arconti, of Newport Beach, California unexpectedly passed away on January 14, 2022 . Tom was born on North Hill in Akron, Ohio to Frances Ferrante and Anthony Arconti on March 11, 1941. He attended Akron North High and graduated in 1960. In his junior and senior years, he became a very good football player and was recognized as an outstanding offensive center. This position earned him a place on the All City Team. Tom was enlisted in the Army from 1964 to 1970 & received a Marksman badge.
In 1967, Tom moved to California with his then wife Shirley Popek and their daughter Michelle. He never lost pride in his Italian heritage or love for Italian cuisine. His early days were not forgotten and their recipes made it to California and just like DeVitos market in Akron, Tom found the best Italian market (Lucci’s) and other restaurants around Newport Beach. If you were fortunate to dine with Tom you were treated to an exceptional wine and food extravaganza!
Tom worked in the building industry as a civil engineer and land developer. He loved the construction process and was happiest when working or hanging out with his grandchildren. Tom enjoyed biking along the Newport boardwalk in his flip flops, sunglasses and Tommy Bahama shirts, frequenting all the restaurants along the way. Tom was a man that took pride in everything he did. He had a fierce work ethic and never stopped learning. He will be dearly missed by all that had the good fortune of knowing him.
Tom is preceded in death by Jody Jaggard, his long time girlfriend.
He is survived by his daughter Michelle Arconti and her husband Michael Gordon of Santa Barbara, CA, and by his grandchildren: Sabrina Monique Gordon-Arconti and Lillian Jade Arconti-Gordon, as well as Jody's daughters: Kelly Wiggins, Tara Jaggard and their children Owen, Addison, Ryder, and Indy, all of whom Tom loved dearly. The best Papa ever.
