Edward F. Davey, Jr., of New Bedford, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly on March 27, 2022. Ed was born March 9, 1957 in Brighton, Massachusetts. He was best known for his love of family, fishing, reading, and the sea.
Ed served in the U.S. Navy as an E-2 Air Mechanic Seaman Apprentice aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga aircraft carrier and was subsequently employed as a commercial fisherman out of New Bedford, Fall River, Scituate, and other ports.
Ed also loved the Boston Bruins and excelled in the sport of hockey. He was offered a practice goalie position with the Springfield Indians on recommendation from the Vezina and Calder Trophy-award winning goalie Tony Esposito.
Ed was predeceased by his mother, Lucia (Mazzola) Olson of Chelmsford, Massachusetts and his father, Edward F. Davey of Saugus, Massachusetts. Ed leaves behind his sister Paula Beckett and her husband Jason of Plano, Texas, his sister Sharon Davey and her husband Thomas Tremblay of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and his brother, Sean Davey and his wife, Pamela of West Hatfield, Massachusetts. Ed also leaves behind his brother Christopher Davey and his wife Amanda of Andover, Massachusetts, and his brother Greg Olson and his wife Maggie of Bolton, Connecticut.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held on June 4, 2022, in Scituate, Massachusetts for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to Soldier On at wesoldieron.org.
