Ralph A. Wheat (96) of Los Angeles, California passed away on March 27, 2022 in Camarillo, California. Ralph was born in Los Angeles to Ralph and Dorothy Wheat on August 15, 1925. He went for Fairfax High School, graduating in 1943. He joined the US Army Air Corp in 1943 and flew as a B-17 pilot. After WWII he attended USC and received a degree in business. He enjoyed playing golf and later, cycling, but his particular passion was for Classic Cars. He remained active throughout his life.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Linda Meier of Camarillo, his son Michael Wheat, of Oxnard as well as 5 grandchildren, one great grandson, one niece and two nephews in Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Wheat and his sister, Connie Delaney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Healthcare Foundation in Oxnard. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St Johns Hospital of Camarillo, Livingston Hospice and Golden Horizon Residential Care. His wit, wisdom and generosity will be missed.
A viewing will be held Saturday, April 9 from 9-11 am and memorial service will follow immediately after at the Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. A graveside ceremony will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Cemetery on Friday, April 29 at 10:30 am.
