Obituary

Lloyd George Scott, 73, of Lowell, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness with his loving family at his side. He was the cherished husband to Barbara H. (Desormeau) Scott, with whom he shared thirty six years of Marriage.

A son of the late Herman and the late Pansy (Chin) Scott, he was born March 28, 1949, in Yallahs, St. Thomas Parish, Jamaica. At the age of eight, he moved to England with his family and relocated to Canada as a teenager. He finished High School in Montreal before moving to Woburn, MA as a young adult. He joined the Army National Guard, became a United States Citizen, and served with the United States Army, from 1978 until 1999, attaining the rank of Staff Sargeant when a service related illness forced his retirement.

In addition to his military career, he worked as a Union Elevator Contractor working for the Montgomery Elevator Company doing repairs and maintenance, concentrating mostly on the construction of elevators and escalators. He was a member of the IUEC Local 4, International Union of Elevator Contractors.

Besides his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Leon Scott and Patrick Scott both of Lowell; his step son, Troy Marquis of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; his grandchildren, Lilliana Scott, Patrick ‘PJ’ Scott, and Ismael, Omar, Salahudeen, Muhammad and Tameem Marquis; his brother, Lascelles Scott of Toronto, Canada; his nephews, Ryan Scott of Toronto, Canada, and Darren Scott of Montreal, Canada; as well as his longtime friend, Anthony Brown of Dorchester, with whom he served during his Army career.

You are invited to his calling hours from 2 until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at the MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. His Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial in Lowell Cemetery. For those attending, masks are optional. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
