Patricia Ann "Pat" "Patsy" "Nana" Rubins, of South Boston, MA passed away peacefully holding her daughter's hand on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 2022, her mother Esther's birthday, at Boston Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer.
Pat was loved by so, so many. She grew up in South Boston, the 2nd youngest of 5 children, where she learned valuable life lessons which she passed on to her daughter, grandsons, and great-grandson. Some of which were to love unconditionally, to give generously to those in need, and to stand up for yourself.
Her heart and doors were always, always open to family and friends. You could always, always count on Pat for a favor, a loan, a smile, a hug, or a laugh.
Her 2 grandsons & many grand-nieces and nephews brought her tremendous joy and she loved nothing more than to play video games with them (and she was pretty good at beating them, too). One of her grandsons blessed her with a great-grandson in June of 2020. She only was able to know him for 21 months, but in those 21 months, they adored each other and loved each other a lifetime's worth.
Pat also enjoyed spending lots of time with friends, shopping, playing bingo, chatting on a bench outside her home, and having lunch at Castle Island.
Pat could not let a baby or a dog cross her path without showering them with love and attention (and pupperoni treats).
Pat was fiercely independent and fiercely kind. Her favorite saying was "You can catch more flies with honey that you can with vinegar." She will be greatly, greatly missed, but she will live on forever in our hearts.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Daniel "Joe" Kelley and Esther Kars-Kelley of South Boston, her brother Francis Kelley of New Port Richey FL, and her brother William Kelley of Thousand Oaks CA.
Pat is survived by her daughter Nancy Kelley of Mansfield MA, her grandson Nicholas Kelley of Mansfield MA, her grandson Matthew & wife Eliza & their son Elliott & soon-to-be-born new great-grandson of Avon CT, her brother Daniel Kelley of Westford MA, her sister Jean of Pawtucket RI, and many nieces & nephews & grand-nieces & grand-nephews.
Family & friends are invited to a celebration of life on April 10th at 2PM TO 4P.M at Casper Funeral Home located at 187 Dorchester St., South Boston MA 02127.
