Ida M. (Watkins) Roderick, 87, of New Bedford died March 27, 2022 at Royal of Fairhaven after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was the wife of Leo A. Roderick.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Robert A. and Mary Agnes (Daher) Watkins, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1953 and S.M.T.I.
Mrs. Roderick was a communicant of Our Lady Of Purgatory Church.
She was formerly employed as a first and second grade teacher at Oxford School in Fairhaven for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Roderick enjoyed bowling and trips to Foxwoods.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Barry Roderick and his wife Susan of New Bedford; her brother Robert Watkins, Jr. and his wife Rillis, of South Dartmouth; 5 grandchildren, Jason Oliveira, Brian Roderick, Matthew Roderick, Christopher Adamides and Andrea Greene; many great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Robbie Watkins and Andrea Barros and 2 nephews, Daryn Roderick and Jeffrey Pina.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 4th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of the Purgatory Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 3rd from 2-5 PM.
