Obituary


Mr. Francis C. Starble, Jr. a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 86. Marty, as he was known to family and friends, was the beloved husband of Evelyn L. (Cram) Starble. Born in Woburn, Marty was the son of the late Francis C. and Edith (Yarossi) Starble.

Marty was raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School with the class of 1953. As a young boy he participated in many youth sports here in Woburn and especially loved playing baseball. In his adult life he continued being active in Woburn youth sports coaching Little League Baseball for many years and was always active in civic affairs working the voting polls for a number of years. He worked for over 40 years as a talented machinist with General Foods prior to his retirement. Marty was raised in King Solomon's Masonic Lodge and later transferred to the Simon W. Robinson Lodge of Lexington. He was also very active at the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington where he enjoyed working the circus every year and marching in parades. Throughout his life he was huge Boston sports fan holding season tickets for the BC Eagles, Lowell Lock Monsters, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and the Lowell Spinners. In retirement he continued to stay busy and even worked for a period of time at the Showcase Cinema here in Woburn. Marty also enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Smithfield, Maine where he enjoyed boating, fishing and jet skiing with his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife Evelyn, Marty is survived by his sons, Scott Starble and Eric Starble both of Woburn. He was the brother of Edith "Sis" Starble of Woburn, the late Dorothy "Dot" Mahoney and her late husband Dan, Evelyn Aimo and her late husband Carl. Cherished uncle of Doug, Wayne, Kevin, Patricia, Paula, Amy, the late Dana and Shawn. Brother-in-law of Carol Cram of Billerica and her late husband Wayne, Denise Cram of Waltham and her late husband Robert.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, March 31st, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Marty's memory to the Simon W. Robinson Masonic Lodge, 3 Bedford St., Lexington, MA 02420 or to the Aleppo Shriners, 99 Fordham Rd., Wilmington, MA 01887.
