John T. Allen
Lifelong Tewksbury Resident
TEWKSBURY: John Thomas Allen, age 73, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce E. (Abolin) (Plourde) Allen, who passed away May 6, 2009.
Born in Tewksbury on November 24, 1948, he was the son of the late William D. Allen and the late Mary M. (McGaffigan) Allen.
John attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School.
In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War Era aboard the U.S.S. Independence.
He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his active-duty service.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at the Andover facility by the Raytheon Corporation, where he was shop steward.
John enjoyed cruising in his 1984 Monte Carlo, vacationing and jet skiing on Paugus Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee.
Family members include his siblings, the late William D. Allen, Jr., of Tewksbury, James R. Allen and his wife Marilyn, of Seminole, FL, Robert J. Allen and his wife Liz, of Callawassie Island, SC, Dorothy M. Doucette and her late husband Melvin, of Groveland, and Mary M. Allen, of Tewksbury: and many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 30th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, March 31st at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to V.A.
