Obituary



William Francis Tenney, age 82, of Medway, MA, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.

He is predeceased by his parents William & Florina Tenney of Hyde Park, MA, his brother George Poirier of Wilmington, DE and his two infant daughters, Ann Marie and Debra.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy and his loving daughters, Dorothy Bell and her husband Brian of Bellingham, MA, Christine Heafey of Medway, MA and his most beloved grandchildren Kolbe William Bell, Amanda Rachel Heafey and Olivia Rose Heafey. William is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was beyond blessed with countless lifelong friends.

Raised in Hyde Park, MA he graduated from Hyde Park High and continued his education at Franklin Technical Institute and Suffolk University where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Technology. He spent his career working as a research chemist.

In the 1940’s & 1950’s he was a poster child for the Red Feather Organization and March of Dimes to promote awareness of Polio and infantile paralysis. He was also a member of the Deodorization Order of the Skunk. As an adult, he was a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Academy for the Advancement of Science.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2 in St. Brendan’s Church, Bellingham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway.
