WORCESTER__ Elizabeth (Garniewicz) Kontoes, 89, of Worcester, died Saturday, April 29, in Saint Francis Home. Her husband, of 56 years, James Kontoes died in 2000.
She leaves a son, John Kontoes and his wife Joan of Andover, NH, a daughter, Monica J. Bissonnette and her husband Paul of Webster; five grandchildren, Christopher K. Kontoes of Somerville, James and Heather Kontoes of Methuen, Paul Jr., and Cindy Bissonnette of Putnam, CT, Philip and Anthony Bissonnette of Webster; and a great grandchild, Katherine Marie Kontoes of Methuen. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister, John Garniewicz and Geraldine Garniewicz. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Benjamin and Monica (Roman) Garniewicz and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Kontoes was a homemaker and worked in area knitting mills for several years. She was educated in Worcester schools. She was a former member of St. Casimir’s Church.
The funeral will be held Wednesday May 3, 2006 with a service at 12:00 p.m. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour in the funeral home will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
