Obituary

LIMERICK- Olive M Cole, 97, of Limerick Maine died on March 20,2022 at Pinnacle Health Care in Sanford Maine after a period of declining health.

She was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, the daughter of the late John J and Mary Delima (Ward) McGrath. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Cole whom she married in 1945. She was the sister of William J McGrath, who died in 2019.

Olive was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School and Marlboro High School. Olive graduated from Framingham State College, class of 1945 where she earned her teaching degree. Olive was a homemaker for many years, raising her seven children in Marlborough. She returned to teaching in the 70’s and taught at the Kane school in Marlboro for several years prior to relocating to Maine.

Ollie and Tom relocated to their vacation home on Lake Arrowhead in North Waterboro, Maine in 1977. Their home was a magnet for family gatherings and they had many happy years living lakeside before moving to Limerick. Ollie was very involved with St Matthews in Limerick where she was a Eucharistic minister and taught religious education classes.

Olive is survived by her seven children, Thomas J Cole and his wife Nancy of West Newfield Maine, James V Cole and wife Nancy of South Grafton, Marybeth Munroe and husband Edward of Venice Florida, John T Cole and wife Sandra of Venice, Florida, Kennith Cole of Ogunquit , Maine, Timothy F Cole of Venice Florida and Danielle Esty of Portland, Maine. Family member list cannot be complete without mentioning Danielle Brennan of So. Weymouth, Ma who was always there throughout Olive’s adult life. Olive left 16 Grandchildren and 15 Great- grandchildren and was preceded in death by her grandson Edward Munroe in 2021.
A funeral mass will be held June 10, 2022, at 10am at St. Matthews Church, 19 Dora Lane, Limerick with burial to follow.
