Guy F. Barra, age 98, of Canton passed away March 22nd. Born and raised in Roxbury, he attended Mechanical Arts High School in Boston where he was a track star and was a Veteran Army Engineer Regiment #398 served at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for NSTAR (Boston Edison) for 35 years in the Underground Division before retiring. He has lived in Canton since 1962 and previously lived in Dorchester for many years.
Beloved husband for over 70 years of Josephine R. (Catalano). Father of Lorraine Barra of Arlington, Guy J. Barra of Canton, and Robert Barra of Mansfield. Grandfather of Leanne Laferrera of Bellingham and Colleen Barra of N. Attleboro. Great grandfather of Gianna and Stella Laferrera. Brother of the late Fred Barra, Lucy Desmond, Marie Alaimo, and Clara Travia. Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday at 11:00 am. Visiting hours prior to the service Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
