Pearl E. (Maheu) Ahearn, age 88 of Bridgewater, died March 18, 2022 at the Hannah B. G. Shaw Home in Middleboro. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late James A. Ahearn, Sr. Pearl was born in Winslow, Maine to the late Archeles and Mary Jane (LaFlamme) Maheu. She was a graduate of Waterville, Maine High School in 1950. She was one of twelve children and is survived by one brother Donald Maheu of Winslow, Maine. In 1959 she and her husband moved to Brockton, Massachusetts where they raised their family and subsequently as a widow she moved to Bridgewater in 1984.
Pearl was a woman of strength and character. She was a champion leading the way for future woman to have a family and a career. Pearl had various jobs mostly in banking. She was a loan officer and bank manager for many years. She retired from the Bridgewater Credit Union in 2017 on her 83rd birthday.
Pearl was a big sports fan, was a faithful cheerleader at her grandchildren’s games and activities. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and reading books. She also watched gameshows such as “The Letter Show” and Jeopardy. She loved the companionship of her dog Sunny and most importantly, she treasured every moment that she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pearl was the mother of Ann Ahearn Avitabile of Middleboro wife of the late Louis N. Avitabile, Jr.; Patricia Ahearn Burnett of Raynham and the late James A. Ahearn, Jr.
She was the grandmother of Kevin Avitabile and his wife Jenna of Raynham, Jennifer Rose of Taunton, Jeffrey Burnett of Michigan, Kelsey Fillmore and husband Jonathan of Raynham, Kaden Burnett of Plymouth, Nicholas Burnett and his fiancée Nicole Gibson of Easton, the late Patrick Avitabile and late James Avitabile. She leaves behind her six great grandchildren and in addition many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park 321 High Street, Canton, MA on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 10:00 am followed by a Celebration of her Life with her family. Please join the procession in front of the cemetery office.
