Douglas W. Gorman, 70, died Monday, March 21, 2022 at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. After a hard fought 10-month battle with esophageal cancer he died peacefully, surrounded by family and supported by the love of his many friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Doug was born in Providence, RI on May 11, 1951, a son of the late Robert and Barbara (Warren) Gorman. He had been a recent resident of Nashua, NH, formerly living in Dedham, MA, Chatham, MA, Westwood, MA, and Rehoboth, MA. He was a graduate of Colby College and served the school in many capacities, culminating in a Colby Brick Award in 2013. He also received his master's in business from MIT in Cambridge, MA. Doug helped build several businesses over the course of his life, most recently serving as the CEO of a technology company, Simply XML. He was an avid golfer and, despite his battle with cancer, achieved his first hole in one at Cranberry Valley Golf Course on Cape Cod last summer. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, and playing tennis.
Doug is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Booker) Gorman; his daughter, Katherine Gorman; his son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gorman; his grandson, Jack; and his sister, Janet Gorman. He is predeceased by his twin brother, Kenneth.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund.
