Sylvia Elicone of North Reading, MA formerly of the Boston's North End, passed away on March 18, 2022. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Lucia (Decaro) Elicona who immigrated to America from Syracuse, Sicily.
She was the dear sister of Lydia (Elicone) Akerley and her husband George Akerley, the
late John Elicone and his late wife Eleanor, the late Marcelo Elicone and his late wife Laura, the late Aldo Elicone and his wife Karen, and the late Guy Elicone. She was the loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also survived by many beloved cousins in Sicily and many loving lifelong friends.
Family and keeping traditions alive were so important to Sylvia. She was the bridge between family in America and family in Sicily. She is one of the main reasons her family is so deeply rooted in their Sicilian heritage. Those traditions and bonds will be nurtured forever in her honor.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Thursday, March 24th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and
again at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 25th, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn. Services will conclude with a burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
