Maria Sovtus Wasylyshyn “Baba”, 94, of North Port, FL passed away on December 3, 2021. She was born on January 14, 1927, in Dovhe, Ukraine to the parents of George and Anastasia Sovtus. She was a retired United Airlines Kitchen Supervisor. She was active in many church events in the food preparation area.
She is survived by her three children; Alexandra Openchowski, Adam Wasylyshyn, and Tamara Wasylyshyn; five grandchildren, Adam (Gail) Wasylyshyn, Nicole Wasylyshyn, Frank Openchowski, Adrian (Jordana) Wasylyshyn, and Sasha (Ernie) Segundo; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Andrew, Eliana, Lyla, Karissa, and Evelyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Wolodymyr Wasylyshyn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 10 am at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, 146 Forest Hills St, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. The service will be followed by a burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 990 La Grange Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132. A reception will be held at Christ the King Church following the burial service.
