Obituary



George Cordeiro Sr., age 94, of Brockton Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022 surrounded by family.

George was born in Taunton, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Mary Stella (Texeira) Cordeiro, his nine siblings, Frank Cordeiro, Manuel Cordeiro, Georgina Tavares, Evyonne Roberge, John Cordeiro, Joseph Cordeiro, Vivian Heffernan, Mary O’Neil and Natalie Correia.

George was preceded in passing by his loving wife MaryEllen (McDermott) and survived by his children, Sandra Marsh and husband Bill, George Cordeiro, Jr. and wife Betty, Jacqueline Baudanza and husband Tony, Mark Cordeiro and his late wife Nancy, grandchildren Tracey Rossi and Mike Bordes, Kayley and Richard Haupt, Jason and Xan Marsh, Angela and Mike Murphy, Michael Cordeiro, Madeline and Shane Robitille, Samual and Maranda Cordeiro, predeceased grandson TJ Baudanza and his surviving wife Amanda as well as nine great grandchildren.

George attended Taunton High School and then proudly served in the Merchant Marines during WW II. After serving his country he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4 for 56 years. He loved Boston sports teams, taking cruises with his wife MaryEllen and was an avid nature observer. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

As per George’s request, the funeral and memorial services will be private. He has asked that friends and loved ones please send memorial donations to St Jude’s Hospital for Children St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
